My god! "the house of the scorpion" by Nancy Farmeris DAMN nice man! i brought it to school today, read about 1/8 of it in school hours, 3/4 of the remainder in detention and the rest at home. IT IS DAMN NICE!!! okay, basically, the story centers about Matt, the main character of the story. Through his childhood, he lives a secluded life, in a shack in the poppy fields, knowing only the one person who has taken care of him his whole life. One day, he is found by other children. He injures himself trying to get to them and is brought to the Main House, where his injuries are treated. but when the doctor comes, everyone shuns him. he only finds out later that it is because he is a clone. In the book, clones are thought to be animals, things with no souls. (It)s. that is because, by the law, their consiousness are "terminated" when they are born. but Matt is different. that is because his owner is powerful enough to break the law. well, the rest of the story follows his growing up, his struggles to be one of the "humans", and his learning of the world. But the nicest part is when he escapes and how he manages to face his feelings for the girl he loves, seeing that people think that as clones have no soul, they cannot love. Why he escapes, how and the ending? well, i'll let you find out yourself! xD
